This charming Rush Creek Golf Club Wedding will sweep you off your feet! Especially if you have a great affinity for Christmas and merriment, you are in for a treat. Maggie & Jake’s day was a delight of fireside elegance filled with inspiring moments, a room brimming with laughter, and – thankfully – a flurry of snowflakes!
December Rush Creek Wedding Design
To capture Maggie’s love for Christmas and the season, she incorporated evergreens into her florals and paired the happy greens with white roses and a sprinkle of blue. Maggie’s design for the day brought the vibrance of the perfect blue hue through the bridesmaid’s dresses and bouquet florals. I just loved how well they paired with the December scene of the Golf Club. Somehow she perfectly calculated the exterior color of Rush Creek’s beautiful window facade into her colors! The indoor grounds of Rush Creek were decorated in such a jolly way – the staircases lined with boughs and ribbon, as well as twinkling lights draping the doorways and balconies. Two roaring fires dapped the paneled walls of the banquet hall in their golden hues, and the merriment of all the guests celebrating Maggie & Jake could not have been greater!
Of the Private Vows and First Look
As a photographer, morning wedding moments are often one of my favorite parts of the day. (And often crying from laughter during speeches makes the top of that list!) Maggie & Jake wanted a December wedding and they knew it would be cold. They hoped for a swath of snowflakes! We held their first look outside and after a few portraits they shared their vows with each other in the warmth of Rush Creek. Maggie’s beautiful words filled the hall, framed by twinkling lights and hand held firmly by Jake. When it came to his turn, he drew breath to begin and found himself faltering as the reality of the moment began to weaken his throat.
My favorite moment of the day was Jake’s chuckle as he threw his head to the side, “Who knew this would be so difficult?” Maggie’s good natured laughter with tears in her eyes affirmed him. Isn’t it so? Actually speaking aloud the deepest longings and hopes we treasure is so vulnerable. When else in life do we formally make plans to tell a loved one the thoughts in the depths of our souls? The work of writing is one thing, and the act of releasing the words in person is quite another. This moment was such a treasure to witness! I cannot get over how beautiful Maggie looks with that tear slipping down her cheek!
Letter to the Couple
Maggie & Jake,
You two are so beautifully yourselves. It’s a joy to watch you, easy going and yet somehow bold and bright at the same time. The saga of Bennie–Johnnie love stories continue and I am so grateful. I seriously can hardly describe how grateful I am that God brought us together. I loved watching your family and friends extend their hands towards you during your mass and bless you – a new family! You are so fun and so sweet, and I rejoice that you belong to each other!
May the Lord bless you with many more spontaneous moments like your overseas connection & subsequent shocking of your relatives. (I just loved hearing that story over and again during speeches!) May you never cease to awe over His goodness and kindness towards you. I will forever be cheering you on, Mr. & Mrs. Koebnick!
Joyfully,
Jennifer
