If you know me at all, you know how much I love serving my couples on wedding days. I simply delight in it. So, when a best-friend-bridesmaid saw me serve her friend as a bride last December, and then invited me to be her wedding photographer, you have to know the joy I felt! Meeting Allie, her then-fiancé Andy, and her parents at Maggie & Jake’s wedding was a continuing lesson for me in the legacy of the Benny-Johnny love story. (A legacy I am so here for.) Allie & Andy, however, did not meet until the end of senior year, and hearing Allie’s father tell the story of their first date had everyone laughing and crying the best kind of tears.

Nativity Of Our Lord Wedding Mass

As the childhood church of Andy, Nativity of Our Lord was truly the perfect place for honoring the many voices that spoke into this couple and helped them become who they are today. What a joy to see the church nearly filled to the brim with guests ready to celebrate these two! I love the architecture and design that elevates and inspires with the histories of the gospel written in the stained glass windows. I have a deep love for the Catholic wedding mass because it is so nicely arranged. Not only does the couple and the wedding party get to sit down, but the components of scripture, song, and speech truly wrap the couple in the fullness of the meaning behind the beautiful covenant of marriage. I’ve confessed this many times, but I love how I never need to rush as a photographer to get a specific shot. I know my couple is able to fully pause and soak in the moment.

Allie & Andy,

I am so honored you chose me to be your wedding photographer! Ever since I met you both, I’ve admired how deeply you treasure the little joys in life. The way you honor your families and the love you pour out on your friends testifies to that. I love the vision you created and I love how you arranged your day truly enjoy it! Your smiles are always so genuine – it was truly a joy to prepare these blog previews and re-live your joy! May you rejoice in the goodness the Lord has given you in each other. I am thrilled to know you, Mr. & Mrs. Wingerd! (and I’m so glad I get to see you again soon for another wedding celebration!)
