Minnesota Seniors Are The Best

As I grew up in Chicago, I was introduced to the tradition of Minnesota Senior photos and Senior grad parties just 7 years ago. I remember the first senior party I attended, and how my favorite part was the picture wall! Larger than life, covered with photos from birth through childhood all the way through senior portraits. It just warmed my heart to see the family rally around their kid and lift them up with a celebration! This year I saw the full force of senior love even as the virus clamped down. Families found drive-by and alternative methods of senior grad party celebrating. (I even attended a literal drive thru senior farewell!) So cool.

Senior Photos with No Stress

This year the number of senior inquiries increased so much for me, and I simply loved every moment of each one! To the parents, siblings, and friends who came along for the ride, you are total rock stars! My goal with each session is for every senior to be able to see how special they are, and to agree when people say, “you look GOOD!” So many forces tear away at our insides making it hard to look in the mirror. I desire for my work to be a mirror that demonstrates to every senior: you are worthy, you are unique, and your smile is like no other!

Tips for Your Senior Session

Are you a rising senior? I highly recommend you decide now which season you would prefer as the environment for your photos. Every year senior photos sneak up on even the most diligent – so strategize now! My second piece of advice is to reach out to your photographer the season before the one you want to have your session. For example, if you see the soft light of these spring session and think a May or June date is your favorite, contact your photographer in March or April!

As all Minnesotas know, we all like to get out there and go for adventure as soon as the thaw is over 🙂 Third tidbit of advice: remember that booking a session is just part your work – deciding your look is the next step!
