The beauty of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church jumps out from the streets of St. Paul. Sweet neighborhoods flank this striking building and somehow despite its height, it feels fitting. Photographing the details of this church wasn’t just fun – Daniel had specifically asked me to capture the architecture on their wedding day! Susie & Daniel are the kind hearted, gentle folk that you wish lived right next to you.
My Favorite Moment: the Architect
The words of the priest encompass my favorite moment from Susie & Daniel’s day. He spoke of premarital meetings with Susie and Daniel (over Zoom, no less!) and how Daniel had shared his thoughts comparing two of the Gospels. As a bridge architect, Daniel shared how one Gospel account focused on the foundation of faith while the other focused on the structure of how faith works. I loved how the priest said, “He should have known not to give this much ammo to the man officiating his wedding!” Everyone laughed, knowing Daniel’s great love for his vocation. (Even the groomsmen’s ties sported architectural design: a bridge!) I most loved hearing Daniel’s next words read aloud, about how he looked forward to building a strong foundation with Susie. Total heart melter!
Music in Nativity of Our Lord
After the disparaging months of lockdowns, it was so refreshing to hear so many voices singing as one. The notable sonic quality of this church cannot be understated. Vaulted ceilings simply lifted the sounds of violin, organ, and trumpet in such a refined way. The music of Susie & Daniel’s ceremony was truly a treat for the ears.
Susie & Daniel,
Thank you so much for trusting me to capture your day. Your families are so absolutely wonderful. All my blessings to you as you grow closer into one heart and mind!
Joyfully,
Jennifer
