Lizzy & Guillaume hosted the most welcoming wedding at Saint Joan of Arc and Paikka! There is nothing sweeter than marrying in your home church. It was evident every part of the day that these two cared prioritized their guests being comfortable and enjoying themselves. Selflessness is one of the threads that binds them together – and many of the toasts echoed that!
A Time to Laugh and A Time to Cry
One of the most moving parts of this day was the thankful heart that Lizzy & Guillaume displayed – both in word and deed. The tears for lost loved ones during prayer, the sadness of family members who could not attend the wedding, but also the joy of the two becoming one – every emotion was welcome to the table and given a place. No one felt they had to pretend or put on a face. This wedding simply brought their community together in full humanity, with the joys and grief given a collective witness. Watching Guillaume hold Lizzy’s shoulder reassuringly as she spoke the words of her prayer through tears was such a raw and beautiful moment. Watching friends & family witness the sanctuary, I had such an awe of the goodness of gathering together.
A Bright Paikka Wedding
In addition to the unhindered emotions in the ceremony, Lizzy & Guillaume’s reception leapt with the full joys of celebration. The modern and relaxed air of Paikka filled with children, parents, family, and friends felt like a huge family reunion. Watching guests rave about the dishes provided by Brasa, I knew this would be a dancing group! Paikka’s long banquet tables leave plenty of room for dancing, and these guests filled it up!
The Perfect Outfit Changes: Nigerian Dress & Sparkles
Lizzy had a custom made dress by Trail Stitches – in the perfect sapphire color to match her engagement ring! I love how the colors reflect the joy surrounding the day – absolutely exuberant! (Just scroll to their entrance photo into Paikka!) I also have to share how beautiful it was to see Lizzy change not once but three times – to an outfit for every occasion!
She wore her dress by Needles & Thread for the ceremony, and then her Nigerian dress for husband & wife photos, and for the dance floor – a sparkly silver dress! I wish I had taken Lizzy’s advice at my own wedding!
Lizzy & Guillaume,
I loved seeing your wedding day take shape into the family celebration of the year! Your love for your family and friends is such a beautiful testimony to your loyal hearts, and your enduring care for others above yourselves. May the Lord richly bless you in your marriage!
Joyfully,
Jennifer
