Carleton College Courtyard Wedding | Emily & Caleb

Carleton College Courtyard Wedding

Weddings

This Carleton College Courtyard Wedding blended Emily & Caleb’s simple hearted elegance with a love for great oak trees. One of the oldest oaks on the Carleton College campus towers high near the entrance of Anderson Hall. Beneath these boughs they gave their vows to each other. I am positive that the first memory to fade from this wedding day will be the blistering heat and intense humidity. But what will endure is the infectious joy, the beholding of such an honest promise for “an everyday kind of love” and the sweetness of knowing that a new family has begun. It was such a fantastic day!

Weitz Center Reception

I truly love photographing speeches and toasts. Yes, sometimes the task can be trying for a Maid of Honor or a Best Man, but in this case every speech turned over a new and beautiful facet of Emily & Caleb’s story. Hearing Emily’s sister share about the tenacity Emily always had, seeming to come from nowhere in many arenas of her life as the skilled and proficient one, was truly such a joy to watch.

It is one thing in life to know that you are loved, but it is quite another to watch those you love speak candidly to an entire room and demonstrate how cherished you are to them. It is one of my joys in being a wedding photographer! To think that through rituals such as a speech, an entire room of people can feel more closely connected, and all because two people threw a celebration! Kudos to every speech giver, who truly enhanced the beauty of Emily & Caleb’s day!

A Full Dance Floor at the Great Hall

In addition to long tables with amazing food & conversation, Emily & Caleb’s guests knew how to DANCE! The elegant walls of Carleton’s Great Hall were filled with a truly energized crowd of dancers – thanks to Blue Water Kings Band! I’ve noticed a fun trend at my weddings, which starts in the typical progression of the bride & groom’s first dance. After, both parents engage in first dances simultaneously – and then the dance floor fills! The cascade of multi-generational dance steps always makes me smile.

Emily & Caleb,

You two are the sweetest! It’s crazy to think I didn’t even know you a year ago – because your family and friends are so welcoming, and being a Northfield local myself I was so overjoyed to meet your circle! There is such a precious guarantee of delight for you two in the joy of the mundane (and yet, Caleb, your shout of “I LOVE THIS WOMAN!” to begin your vows wonderfully showcases how you two are anything but ordinary. You two are a blast! Your poise and compassion are beautiful to behold, and I bless you with deep strength to wade hand in hand the fords of married life – be they fair adventures or foul. I am so thankful to hold your trust, and I hope you enjoy scrolling through these blog images!

Joyfully,

Jennifer
