St. Olaf Natural Lands October Family Session

Oct 14, 2018

Family

She would not smile. Her beautiful blue eyes held open in a blank stare, alternating with disproval. Her pigtails were wrapped with delicate pink bows, and her dress went perfectly with her mother’s scarf. But it was cold.

I’m sure this little girl was thinking, “Who are you and why are you ordering my family around?” For the better part of the session, her brother hammed it up and showed off his silly fun side. She tolerated holding his hand and giving him a hug. But no dice on the smile. After shots with her dad,  she hid her face in daddy’s flannel and prepared to hunker down for the last bit of our session. We walked around the pond to the meadow side. Then it happened. Whether it was my suggestion of their I cannot remember, but the idea of the toss was our last chance. Dad threw her up as high as he could–and she beamed! More! Soon her brother pleaded for the same treatment, and it was clear that the end of a session can indeed be better than the beginning.

Melissa & Alan,

You began our session apologizing about your daughter’s natural lack of smile. Evelyn showed us her true colors and blew us all away! And Sam enjoyed himself thoroughly. You are doing a wonderful job parenting these little ones. Blessings to you as you enjoy their next milestones!

Joyfully,

Jennifer
