To photograph in Northfield, Minnesota offers many iconic vistas. The city is proud of its bridges, its fountain, the surrounding fields,  the two colleges, and natural lands. One thing became clear as I began Elise & Renato’s session: we had to get to the riverside gazebo. Both independently shared with me the prominence of this location in their journey together. Later in our session, I found out they dance together inside the gazebo! I have lived in Northfield for 7 years, and I have never entered that gazebo. I’ve often wondered what treasured moments have taken place beneath its roof, and now I am so happy to know that these two will have the kernel of those moments photographed!

I’ve known Renato for almost five years, and one of the things I most admired about him is how genuinely he shares smiles and hugs– and prayer! As I directed him to smile at Elise, I saw peace fill his eyes again and again. And my word, I think I’ll be tearing up during their first dance in just five months!
