What an amazing wedding at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd! As I drove in the cold of Minnesota March to Faribault, two truths pressed upon me. The first: it was literally hovering around or below freezing temperatures. The second: I wanted to serve and love Carissa & Justin as best as I possibly could–but would she be able to withstand the temperature? My fear was unfounded–not because of a warm sun, but because of the character of this bride. Carissa carried such composure every minute of her day. To carry peace with you into your wedding day is an admirable and formidable task–but to do so while mothering a sweet son and daughter is an even greater testament to Carissa’s steadiness.

Winter Wedding

I could hardly contain myself as Carissa and her bridesmaids pulled out their fur shawls – such perfect details! The vendor team was simply fantastic, and I so enjoyed working with them all! The delicate ivory, pewter gray, and elegant purples paired so well with the winter light. Such a dream for me to photograph! Carissa, you were an absolute goddess in your wedding gown!

Favorite Moments at Shattuck St. Mary’s

My favorite moments of this wedding day are perhaps the hidden ones that happened in between these photographs. Carissa melting in joy over their son’s arrival in his tuxedo–the laughter in their baby girl’s eyes as she tried to figure out how to wear her flower crown– the tears that came just before pronouncing their vows. The serenity and grace Carissa carried as she went out again and again into the unforgiving cold –because she trusted me! The hard laughs during bridesmaids and groomsmen portraits. The Chapel of the Good Shepherd, brimmed with smiling family and friends, cheering on the couple as they walked the recessional with their two littles in tow. (This was such a symbolic and sweet moment!) So many small parts of the day that brought into focus how Carissa and Justin had planned their day with such intentionality.

WAY TO GO! Your Shattuck St. Mary’s wedding held so much beauty and grace. Blessings to you in your marriage. May you treasure the true friends all around you who will uphold you in times of trial and encourage you through all of your journey. (Jill, you are the most attentive personal attendant I have ever met!) You so obviously love and lay down your lives for your friends and your sweet son and daughter. You nailed your portraits. (You’re on my website!) It was truly amazing to serve you two!
