Fiona and Mark chose THE most magical spot in Minnesota nature for a golden hour engagement session. Steeplechase offers the immense beauty of rolling hills as well as the view to best them all. Fiona hails from Maine, and I love how the grandeur of this view blows me away almost as much as Acadia National Park!

Golden Hour Engagement

No surprise that golden hour provides a richness in the light – but I’ve never seen the golden light spread over such lush, verdant landscape! Fiona and Mark chose Steeplechase after seeing the stunning ceremony site. The backdrop? The wide expanse of Minnesota forrest. This is where we started the session, and WOW! Shall we have these two on the cover of a Minnesota travel magazine?! I have to mention here that Fiona first arrive in Minnesota just before the polar vortex. Yikes. She vowed to leave as soon as she finished her degree. Thankfully, she met Mark– and that resolve crumbled. And now I’ve photographed this stunning spot in the best light with the dearest people.

Some of my favorite golden hour photos came from our brief time on a trail. I love helping my couples feel totally at ease during their session. The way I do this is by taking full responsibility for posing! I simply describe the movement or the pose every time. So, Fiona and Mark had just one job: have fun together! Isn’t it stunning to see them enjoying golden hour?
