I pulled into the countryside of Ross & Sarah’s wedding venue thinking I walked into a dream. The greens and ochres of the meadow and fields framed white rows of ceremony chairs and a swath of white fabric fluttered in the breeze, dancing in the sun. This scenery got me so excited– and then I saw Sarah’s florals–and the dream waxed bolder. I could hardly contain myself!
A Florist As A Bride
I should have expected that Sarah’s bridal florals would blow me away. I had seen her handiwork at Lena & Eric’s winter wedding where she also served as an extraordinarily helpful bridal attendant. Ever my coffee shop date with Sarah & Ross, I’ve been so excited to see their vision come to life!
I think Sarah’s colorful palette brought the warmth of Minnesota’s final summer days into color form. The dusty sage paired so beautifully with the gold tones!
A Northfield Romance
Sarah & Ross both graduated from St. Olaf College (Go Oles! I’m an alumni, class of ’13!) – and they’re staying in Northfield! Woot! It is such an honor to photograph a pastor like Ross and to see his loyal heart on display throughout wedding day. Though I know she wears no crown, I’d be remiss not to mention that I felt compelled to tell a beautiful wedding story since Sarah is our mayor’s daughter. Local royalty banter made its way into the day for sure!
My Favorite Countryside Wedding Moment
These two are so playful and joyful. My favorite moment from their day, however, was the solemnity with which they came together, receiving the covenant of marriage with weight. As Ross pronounced his vows, everyone could see he meant them, and as he listened, his smiled seemed to say, “I take such delight in loving this woman.” Hearing vows can make us squirm – they seem so final and so solemn. It was beautiful to witness these two exchanging theirs, in their own voices.
Sarah & Ross,
Congratulations on becoming Mr. & Mrs! Your day brimmed with gladness, and I am so honored that you choose me to capture all of the beauty. Sarah, your attention to detail showcased so much of your diligence, and Ross, your steadfastness so excellent. (And Sarah, I just have to say – that bridesmaid reveal you did was so sweet! Telling your girls how beautiful they are before they even saw you really melted everyone’s heart!)
I’m so excited you live in my town!
Joyfully,
Jennifer
